A normal preventive cancer screening result is genuinely reassuring. What it tells you is that on the day of the test, no signs of cancer were detected. It carries no promise about what may develop later on, and that gap is precisely why early detection testing has to keep happening on the appropriate schedule. Abnormal does not automatically mean cancer is present. Plenty of abnormal findings turn out to be benign, and plenty of others call for nothing beyond monitoring.
